12,586 acres of water at the center of the County’s outdoor identity.

Waconda Lake and Glen Elder Dam sit beside U.S. Highway 24, between Glen Elder and Cawker City. The current County site describes the lake as a major destination for boating, camping, fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation.

The surrounding Glen Elder Wildlife Area includes approximately 13,000 land acres in addition to the lake’s 12,586 water acres.
